3. Network Layer

यह OSI model की तीसरी layer  होती है। इस layer को packet Unit भी कहा जाता हैं। इस layer मे switching तथा routing technique का उपयोग किया जाता है। इस layer का कार्य IP address provide कराना  है।  नेटवर्क layer में जो डाटा होता है वह पैकेट(डेटा के group) के रूप में होता है और इन पैकेट्स को source से destination तक पहुंचाने का काम नेटवर्क layer का होता है।  यह अलग-अलग डिवाइस में लॉजिकल कनेक्शन उपलब्ध कराती है। इस layer का काम routing का भी है यह डेटा transferring के लिए सबसे अच्छे route को बताती है।  Network layer के मुख्य काम error handling, packet sequencing, internetworking, addressing और congestion control हैं।

3. Network Layer

This is the third layer of the OSI model. This layer is also called packet unit. Switching and routing techniques are used in this layer. The function of this layer is to provide IP address. The data contained in the network layer is in the form of packets (groups of data) and the work of sending these packets from source to destination is done by the network layer. It provides logical connections between different devices. The work of this layer is also for routing, it tells the best route for transferring data. The main functions of the network layer are error handling, packet sequencing, internetworking, addressing and congestion control.
