SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language):-

                                  HTML को SGML के सबसेट के रूप में विकसित किया गया है, जो एक High Level मार्कअप Language है। HTML की तरह, यह एक document के विभिन्न component को परिभाषित करता है और formatting और हाइपरटेक्स्ट लिंक को describe करता है। एचटीएमएल एसजीएमएल की तुलना में बहुत सरल है और इंटरनेट पर ट्रांसमिशन के लिए सबसे उपयुक्त है।

                   Standard Generalized Markup Language (एसजीएमएल) मार्कअप language को define करने के लिए एक language है। एचटीएमएल एसजीएमएल का एक ऐसा “एप्लिकेशन” है। एक SGML एप्लिकेशन में दो भाग होते हैं।

i. SGML declaration: SGML declaration यह specifies करती है कि application में कौन से character और delimeters दिखाई दे सकते हैं।

ii. Document type definition (डीटीडी): डीटीडी मार्कअप निर्माणों के सिंटैक्स को परिभाषित करता है। SGML अपने आप में एक document language नहीं है, बल्कि इसका विवरण है कि किसी एक को कैसे specify किया जाए। यह मेटाडेटा है।

SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language):-

                 HTML is developed as a subset of SGML, which is a high-level markup language. Like HTML, it defines different components of a document and describes formatting and hypertext links. HTML is much simpler than SGML and best suited for Transmission over the Internet.

                   Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) is a language for defining Markup languages. HTML is one such “application” of SGML. An SGML application consists of two parts.

i. SGML declaration: The SGML declaration specifies which characters and delimiters may appear in the application.

ii. Document type definition (DTD): The DTD defines the syntax of markup constructs. SGML is not in itself a document language, but a description of how to specify one. It is metadata.
