यह लेयर सोर्स से डिस्टिनेशन नेटवर्क तक आईपी डेटाग्राम भेजने के लिए रिस्पॉन्सिबल है। यह होस्ट एड्रेसिंग और पैकेट रूटिंग perform करता है। इसमें 2 प्रोटोकॉल कार्य करते है।

6LoWPAN एक IPv6 प्रोटोकॉल है, और इसे लो पावर पर्सनल एरिया नेटवर्क पर IPv6 से extended किया गया है। जैसा कि नाम से ही इस प्रोटोकॉल का मतलब पता चलता है कि यह प्रोटोकॉल वायरलेस पर्सनल एरिया नेटवर्क यानी WPAN पर काम करता है। यह IoT के लिए विशेष रूप से बनाया गया पहला standard वायरलेस था यह लगभग 250Kbps की डेटा दर प्रदान करता है।
Network Layer Protocol:-
This layer is responsible for sending IP datagrams from the source to the destination network. It performs host addressing and packet routing. Two protocols work in this.

6LoWPAN is an IPv6 protocol, and it is extended from IPv6 over Low Power Personal Area Networks. As the name suggests, this protocol works on Wireless Personal Area Network i.e. WPAN. It was the first standard wireless designed specifically for IoT. It provides data rates of approximately 250Kbps.
